I love photographing newborns when they’re a little bit older. Babies are so much more alert. There’s much more flexibility in scheduling the session. And sessions don’t take as long as posed newborn sessions. I think it makes things so much easier on the parents and that’s one of the things I love most about Documentary Newborn Photography.

I spent about an hour with Robert and his family on a spring morning in Northern Virginia. Our session had to be rescheduled a couple of times due to illness. But since Robert didn’t need to be super sleepy for the session to go smoothly so it was easy to reschedule. In the end, the timing really worked in our favor because we wound up with a beautiful spring day and we got to go outside in the family’s backyard! That’s pretty rare for a February baby!

Welcome to the family Robert! You are one lucky little guy! You parents are super nice and your big brother knows everything about transportation. (He even knew the make and model of my car. I was incredibly impressed!) I bet he will teach you one day!
