I went over to Kate and Jan’s home to meet their family the day before our session. “Hi, my name is Penn,” said a little human with a juice box. I’ve never met such a polite two-year-old in my life! I also met big brother Levin, who showed me his Leonardo mask and several ninja turtle action figures. The boys introduced me to their new baby sister Brett. Levin adored her. Penn was still figuring the new dynamic. Kate and Jan admitted to me that they were worried that they would spend the day feeling self-conscious in front the camera. But at the same time they were really excited about this type of family photography. I told them not to worry. My camera seems to disappear after an hour. We said good-bye and I came over the next day at 6:45 AM. It was an ordinary day. But it was a great day. There was breakfast making, laundry folding, bike riding, convincing Penn to a helmet-ing, action painting, popsicle eating and storytelling. This is their day.
